The Manchester Derby today was spectacular match. The teams were evenly matched on paper (actually Manchester City are better) and there was not a better time to win a match for either team. At this crucial stage of the Barclay's premier league , this derby match was the best opportunity for either team to show some champion stuff.
The match started off with a nice chance for Silva(MC) to score but Van Der Sar(MU) was able to see it off as just a scare. Both of them played good football both were looking to score and both were trying to keep the other from scoring.
The first goal was scored by Nani(MU) from a brilliant assist from Giggs(MU). Nani controlled the lob pass with the first touch, pushed it in front of lescott with the second touch and scored the goal with the third touch, with lot of composure. However Manchester United never really stopped looking for that second goal to seal the match. But Manchester City were able to find that equalizer first. Dzeko ,who was substituted in the 60th, tried to drive a volley but the ball got deflected off Silva's back and made it to the back of the nets with no chance for Van Der Sar to stop it. So it was all even at 64th minute. The match looked like it was heading towards an inevitable draw. It required a special moment for both teams to pull this one off. This moment was delivered by Rooney(MU) in the 77th minute.
Rooney scored ,with a bicycle kick, from Nani's cross. The goal was too classy to be stopped by any goalkeeper. It was just too good. This ensured a win, complete 3 points for the Red Devils and thus they hold on to the top spot.

ReplyDelete1st up Manchester United was the better side in Manchester derby!!
ReplyDeleteNext up this is one of the greatest goals ever. I don't think anyone can score a goal with an overhead kick so instinctively for a deflected cross with so much power in the shot and that too its a top corner. Rooney has the goal scoring instinct, the shot power and the quality. He has executed that move many times; missed by a whisker. Indeed a delightful goal in any derby. :)
And for the people who disagree with this can show us the video with an overhead or bicycle kick goal scored from a deflected cross with same power and top or bottom corner!
