Guest Post: Counter-Strike Guide for Newbies

You can read the prologue to this post here. Counter strike 1.6 is kind of old game. But not surely like age of mythology. And mark these words Cheat codes won’t work. And for all who feels this game is out dated. There is newer version of this game "Counter Strike Source”.

Back to CS 1.6, this game needs Team play, strategy, dexterity and mainly practice and knowledge about the game. Practice without Knowledge and Knowledge without Practice makes u a noob. (Noob means amateur player). There are lots of professionals (termed as pro) over there who can “headshot” you from a distance. So learn this game offline before playing online. But according to me mastering this game is not easy. To play this game first should know the map, know the weapons, know your surroundings and you should know when to reload and when to hide. Team play counts more when you play in De_maps (bomb defuse/plant maps). These are some famous maps you may have to know - cs_assault,aa_dima, de_dust, de_dust 2, de_nuke, de_aztec. These are just the famous ones. But a huge collection of maps are available.

And coming to weapons-
Primary weapon play a vital role in this game. Be very careful while choosing your weapon. You can choose submachine guns, machine guns, snipers and rifles. Sub-machine guns are easier to handle but less effective. They recoil less and allow you to spray freely. Machine gun on the other hand has power but recoil is more. It is the only gun with 100 rounds. Next up are snipers. Awesome if you know how to use them, awful if you don't know. There are three Sniper-class weapons viz -
1) Magnum - Strongest of them all. One shot, anywhere on the body (except legs and hands) it’s a sure kill. But it’s difficult, not as easy as it sounds. Placing a sniper needs Skill and Practice.
2) Scout - Less cost, and more effective only if you can land a perfect headshot. Or else it’s a waste. If you know to how to land a headshot every time you pull the trigger, this is the gun for you. As it is light weight, dodging is easier.
3) Krieg (popularly known as GAY gun) - This is a sniper for sure. In other snipers you have to reload every time you fire. In this you can hit all the loaded bullets at once. But it recoils and it is difficult to hit a moving target. So forget this when playing with pro's or even semi pro's.
And Rifles are the strongest guns in CS according to me. If you learn to use them well, then victory is yours. Powerful guns, which can penetrate through walls, and 1 or 2 bullets to head will finish the fight. But controlling the recoil is difficult. Once you learn that, you will be unstoppable.

Secondary weapon
Whatever you do, Do not under estimate the power of pistols. Pistols come in handy when u run out of bullets in your primary weapon. There are 5 kind of pistols. Of which Nighthawk is the strongest one. One head shot will land your opponent in trouble! But stronger the gun is , more disadvantages it has. . . This gun has only 7 bullets which is more than enough if u know the art of “headshot”, or else it is just waste of money to buy this gun. Other pistols are also effective, Dual of terrorist is the nice pistol, pistols rather , if area learner. It has 30 bullets (15 each) and u will have more bullets to spare!! :)

Grenades
There are three types in this
1)HE grenade - It is very useful one , u can remove a considerable amount of enemy's hp , so u can get an advantage over him, and if he is low on hp, u can finish the battle with a He grenade too
2)Flash bang - This is useful if u know how to use it. If your enemy doesn’t know how to dodge it, it will flash a bright light to your rival's screen. Before he gets to know what happened, u can frag him to doomsday. But be very careful not to flash yourself.
3)Smoke grenade- This is also a useful grenade in De_maps. It can be used to confuse your enemies and change their path or also to hide. And some use this to fake a flash attack as fb and sg looks similar. . .
